Job Description

  • St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a competent, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join its healthcare team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring proper medication management, and providing professional pharmaceutical care to patients in line with established standards and ethical practices.
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, professionalism, and excellent communication skills while contributing to safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Review prescriptions to ensure correctness, dosage accuracy, and appropriateness of therapy.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and storage instructions.
  • Monitor drug interactions and contraindications to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper storage of medications.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, ethical standards, and hospital policies.
  • Supervise pharmacy assistantswhere necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy unit.
  • Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper disposal of expired medications.
  • Support pharmacovigilance and medication safety initiatives within the hospital.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
  • Valid license from the Pharmacists Council
  • Current practicing license.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years post-qualification experience is preferred
  • Experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting is an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion while attending to patients.

  • Good communication and patient counselling skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good documentation and record-keeping ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask effectively

  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
