Technical Manager

There is an opening for a seasoned technical manager with an engineering background to develop and execute mid to long-term technical strategies and build the capabilities of the technical team in an Oil & Gas technical service company focused on exploration and production support activities as well as operations and maintenance services. The company emphasis is on cranes and other heavy duty equipment amongst other scope of technical work typical in the industry including understanding of engineering, procurement, construction (installations), installation and commissioning (EPCIC). Requirements for consideration:

• An engineering degree from an accredited university
• Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems, sense in electrical is optional
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience
• 10 years of experience as a technical operations lead or manager in the Oil and Gas industry
• Strategic thinking and Technical acumen needed
• Structured, organized approach with acute planning skills. Must be detailed orientated with excellent work reporting practices
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating small group and executive level discussions, including with OEMs, IOCs, Asset Operators and other service providers and or partners
• Experience in delivering multiple concurrent projects with aggressive schedules
• BOSIET certification would be a plus
• Experience and / or ability to go offshore, as needed, would be a plus
• Experience with cranes and other heavy, mechanical equipment, EPCIC, would be a plus
• Experience with MS Project or Primavera would be a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Team building and good leadership, Emotional Intelligence & Conflict resolution
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Out-of-box thinking to deliver value-added solutions
• Self-motivated, proactive, diligent and result-oriented.

Core Responsibilities include:

• Leadership of all technical operations including planning and execution
• Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with business goals
• Oversee communication with and management of clients, OEMs, strategic partners, contractors, and vendors on all technical matters
• Involvement in budget management and project cost, projection and control
• Develop and deliver technical training programs for technical staff
• Oversight of purchase, maintenance and utilization of all technical materials projects
• Participate in technical bid preparations.
• Oversee interactions between inventory control, technical personnel management, documentation control, technical operations and business reporting
• Monitor and evaluate performance of technical systems, processes and technical staff
