- We are expanding and seeking a skilled Agronomist to support ongoing farm development, crop management, and smallholder outreach programs.
Position Overview
- The Agronomist will play a key role in driving high-yield oil palm production, improving farm practices, supporting plantation operations, and delivering technical assistance to smallholder farmers.
- This role is well-suited to early- to mid-career professionals with hands-on agricultural experience and strong knowledge of tropical crop production, especially oil palm.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement agronomic plans to support plantation establishment, crop management, and yield improvement.
- Conduct field assessments and soil surveys, guiding fertilizer schedules, crop nutrition, and pest/disease control programs.
- Work closely with plantation teams to monitor farm performance, analyze crop growth, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide training, technical support, and ongoing extension services to smallholder farmers within the TerraPalm network.
- Support nursery management, seedling quality control, and planting programs.
- Maintain accurate agronomic data, field records, and yield performance tracking.
- Assist in developing sustainable land use policies, regenerative farming practices, and compliance with environmental standards.
- Conduct trials, demonstrations, and continuous improvement projects on farm technologies and input optimization.
- Collaborate with management to ensure farm activities align with business objectives and operational targets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
- 2 - 7 years of professional experience in plantation crops, industrial farming, or similar agricultural operations (oil palm experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil management, crop nutrition, and integrated pest and disease management.
- Hands-on experience with field data collection, monitoring, and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with rural farming communities and deliver farmer training or extension services.
- Good organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in field environments, travel to farm sites, and manage multiple tasks independently.
