About the Role
- We are seeking a responsible, experienced, and safety-conscious Transportation Officer to oversee transportation operations and effectively manage company drivers and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles safely and responsibly when required.
- Supervise, coordinate, and manage company drivers.
- Plan and monitor daily transportation schedules and driver assignments.
- Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and roadworthy.
- Monitor vehicle documentation, insurance, registration, and inspection validity.
- Track fuel usage, mileage, maintenance, and other vehicle-related expenses.
- Ensure drivers comply with traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Monitor driver attendance, punctuality, performance, and conduct.
- Coordinate staff transportation and official trips.
- Maintain accurate transportation and vehicle records.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and other transport-related emergencies.
- Conduct routine checks on vehicles and report defects promptly.
- Liaise with workshops, mechanics, vendors, and relevant authorities when necessary.
- Prepare transportation reports and recommend improvements to transport operations.
- Perform other transportation-related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in transportation, fleet management, or a similar role.
- Must possess a valid driver's licence and have good driving experience.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage drivers.
- Good knowledge of road safety rules and vehicle maintenance.
- Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work responsibly under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the roads within Niger State and surrounding areas will be an advantage.
