Medical Laboratory Intern

Job Summary

• We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Intern to join our laboratory team.
• This internship offers hands-on experience in a professional clinical laboratory environment under the supervision of qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists.
• The successful candidate will support routine laboratory activities, including specimen reception and processing, documentation, quality-control procedures, equipment maintenance, and compliance with laboratory safety and infection-prevention standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving, processing, and analyzing patient specimens under supervision.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols.
• Support the preparation of reagents, media, and laboratory equipment.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas.
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control, laboratory safety, and waste management protocols.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous learning activities.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of the Laboratory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
• Current practising licence or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the job location.
