Head of Technical Services

About the Role

Laboria is looking for an experienced Head of Technical Services to lead our engineering and technical operations while driving the growth of our technical services business.

This role goes beyond managing engineers. We're looking for a commercially minded leader who can build a high-performing technical team, improve service delivery, increase service revenue, and ensure our customers receive exceptional technical support.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building systems, developing people, and delivering measurable business results.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and manage the Technical Services department.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Improve engineering productivity, response time, and service quality.
• Ensure timely installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Develop and implement departmental SOPs, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operational planning.

Commercial & Business Growth

• Drive revenue growth from technical services, including maintenance contracts, installations, repairs, and other service offerings.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the service business.
• Work closely with the Sales team to identify, support, and close technical-commercial opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, manufacturers, and technical partners.
• Develop service offerings that improve customer retention and profitability.
• Monitor departmental performance against revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction targets.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience , with at least 2 years in a leadership role .
• Strong background in laboratory, medical equipment, diagnostics, biomedical engineering, or related industries.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and improve operational performance.
• Commercial mindset with experience growing service revenue.
• Proven ability to sell technical products and services, with a track record of achieving or contributing to revenue growth.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical excellence and business performance.
• Strong leadership, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent customer relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work with KPIs and drive accountability.
