Job title : Facility Technician

Responsibilities

• Responsible for reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Facility technician is to assist to fulfill the mission of facility management and maintenance works.
• Executing and supervising all maintenance activity in assigned facility.
• Conducts daily walk-around and inspections of the facility to ascertain any electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, or generator issues are resolved.
• Monitoring the operation of the generator.
• Take all necessary records and report to Operations Manager..
• Daily inspection of Generator to confirm status – Topping up of water in the radiator, checking engine oil levels, top-up oil.
• Replacement of Generator batteries as required.
• Supervising Generator vendors when they undertake Generator servicing – verifying oil quantities and quality and replacement parts.
• Receiving supply of diesel, checking diesel quality and quantity, and signing off for quantity of diesel received. Procuring diesel where required
• Daily monitoring of diesel consumption
• Diesel reporting twice a week (on Mondays and Thursdays) and highlight re-order levels.
• Monitoring of generator performance, troubleshooting and clearing of error codes when resolved.
• Monitoring of Inverter and panels to prevent failure and remedying any errors when observed to prevent power interruption.
• Completion of diesel log daily
• Pumping diesel from diesel tank to the generator base
• Undertake both electrical and mechanical repairs as may be required.
• Daily inspection of all
• Replacement of light bulbs
• Daily inspection of inverter room
• Daily inspection of control room and electricals to ensure optimum functionality.
• Daily inspection of all Air Conditioners to ensure functionality is maintained.
• Quarterly servicing of Air Conditioners
• Undertaking repairs of Air Conditioner
• Refilling of AC gas to ensure all Air conditioners are functioning optimally.
• Daily checks of pumping machines to prevent failures and to ensure water is being pumped appropriately.
• Daily checks of overhead water tanks to ensure that adequate water is stored for future use.
• Water levels and pumps should be inspected three (3) times daily to ensure constant functionality.
• Repair of pipe leakages and blockages
• Daily pumping of water to ensure adequate water is available in the office premises.
• Daily inspection of septic tanks to ascertain when tank should be evacuated.
• Daily inspection of water meter to gauge quantity left and when a top up is due.
• Topping up of the prepaid meter credit
• Checking and cleaning of riser pipes and submersible pumps
• Reinstallation of the riser pipes and submersible pumps.
• Annual comprehensive service of Borehole
• Weekly backwashing of water treatment filters – includes flushing dirt out of the filter.
• Monthly washing of water storage tanks
• Daily inspection of drainage and ensure the drainage around the premises is clean and flowing freely.
• Ensure that the floor and roof drains are unblocked and flow freely.
• Replacement of floor and roof drain covers as required.

Carpentry-Minor:

• Undertaking minor carpentry repairs like weak chair legs, replacement of broken drawer handles; door handles, drawer keys, broken glasses, cabinets, etc.
• Replacement of door hinges and cylinder locks, complete lockset, and coupling of furniture.
• Replacement of ceiling tiles.

Tasks:

• Energy management: ensure adherence to managing energy sources – turning off lights, Putting off equipment, and use of inverter to the firm’s advantage.
• Coordinate, schedule equipment and building repairs, installations, and maintenance work with vendors and appropriate in-house staff.
• Manage unplanned maintenance, repair and recovery for the facility as required within the shortest possible time.
• Assist with special projects including construction and refurbishments and vendor biding processes
• Prepare weekly report of facility activities.
• Manage an updated list of vendors, price negotiations and agreements.
• Monitor and ensure that agreed work by staff or contactors are completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies.
• Process vendor invoices with finance
• Perform other duties as assigned by the operations coordinator.
