Gardeners

Responsibilities

• Gardeners will be responsible for the cultivation, care and maintenance of lawns, flowers, trees, shrubs and other landscaped areas within the school environment.
• Daily responsibilities will include watering, weeding, pruning, planting, mowing lawns, applying appropriate treatments and maintaining the general beauty and cleanliness of the school grounds.
• Gardeners will also ensure that gardening tools and equipment are properly used, cleaned and stored, while observing all relevant health, safety and environmental practices.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge or experience in gardening, farming, poultry production or a related agricultural field.
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work.
• Knowledge of basic plant care, crop cultivation, animal or poultry care, depending on the specific role.
• Ability to use and maintain basic gardening, farming or poultry equipment safely.
• Knowledge of hygiene, health and safety procedures.
• Good observation, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Previous experience in a similar role will be an advantage.
• Relevant agricultural, horticultural or vocational training will be an added advantage.
