General Manager Job Description
HRLeverage, the Pan-African Workforce Management company providing top-notch business solutions to SMEs and large organizations, is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager for a reputable hospitality establishment. The ideal candidate will oversee the overall operations of the business, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency, profitability, and team excellence. This role requires a strategic leader with strong expertise in hospitality operations, people management, customer service, finance, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the hospitality establishment to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve guest satisfaction, profitability, and business growth.
- Supervise and manage departmental heads and staff across front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, and administration.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained at all times.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, cost control, and revenue management.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and prepare regular management reports.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and hospitality industry regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, vendors, corporate clients, and stakeholders.
- Support recruitment, training, performance management, and staff development initiatives.
- Drive marketing and business development efforts to increase occupancy, patronage, and brand visibility.
- Handle customer complaints and operational issues professionally and promptly.
- Report directly to senior management and provide strategic recommendations for business improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive management experience within the hospitality industry.
- Strong background in hotel, restaurant, resort, or hospitality operations management.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong financial management, budgeting, and reporting skills.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management abilities.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and hospitality management software.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational functions effectively.
