Job Description
- The music teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging music lessons that inspire students' creativity, develop their musical abilities, and foster an appreciation for music and the performing arts.
- The teacher will prepare students for internal and external examinations, organize musical performances, and contribute to the overall cultural life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality music lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach various aspects of music, including theory, practical performance, composition, and music appreciation.
- Develop lesson plans and schemes of work that cater to students' varying abilities and learning styles.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into music instruction.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and other relevant assessments.
- Identify and nurture students' musical talents and interests.
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence through music activities.
- Provide additional support to students who require academic assistance.
- Monitor and evaluate students' progress and provide timely feedback.
- Prepare and administer tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, performance, and assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification (PGDE, TRCN certification, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-6years of teaching experience in a secondary school setting.
- Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments.
- Knowledge of vocal training, choir management, and music theory.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of educational technology and digital music tools.
