Job Summary

The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for financial management, planning, and keeping financial records.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the development and updating of financial management plans.
Coordinates preparation of periodic income and expenditure, balance sheets, and cash flow estimates.
Ensures accurate records of all assets and liabilities are maintained.
Monitors monthly income, expenditure, and budget variances.
Provides the University Management with advice on all financial transactions.

Qualifications

At least a Second Class Honours Degree in Accountancy from a recognized University; higher degree(s) is an added advantage.
Qualified member of a professional body such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience, ten (10) years of which must be service in the University system.
Must have attained the rank of a Deputy Bursar in a University and served at a managerial level.
Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of relevant accounting packages.
Must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Certificate of Exclusion.

Duration, Salary, Age & Health:

Duration: Single term of five (5) years.
Age: Must not be more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment.
Health: Must enjoy good health to be able to endure the rigors of the duties.

Applicable to the post of Bursar in Federal Universities in Nigeria.
