Head of Treasury
a Dynamic Licensed Financial Lending Institution - JEV Consulting
Role Summary
- Our client is looking for Head of Treasury for immediate employment.
- The Head of Treasury is a critical executive seat responsible for managing the firm’s liquidity position, safeguarding corporate capital, and balancing our diverse liability portfolio against a fast-moving lending asset book.
- This professional will oversee the mechanical allocation of incoming funds, ensure seamless cash flow for daily loan disbursement lines, minimize cost of funds (CoF), and maintain absolute regulatory compliance.
- The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in institutional liquidity structuring, debt service tracking, and asset-liability matchmaking within the Nigerian financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
Liquidity Management & Cash Flow Optimization:
- Manage and optimize daily cash flow operations across all corporate accounts to ensure robust liquidity for immediate loan disbursements (payday, asset, and business loans).
- Maintain optimal cash buffer thresholds to absorb sudden, high-volume credit drawdowns while minimizing idle cash dragged on yields.
- Oversee corporate bank relationships, clearing systems, and transaction channels to negotiate lower transaction charges and competitive interest rates on current accounts.
Investment Portfolio & Liability Governance:
- Manage the structuring, accounting, and lifecycle of inflows from the Surecredit Private Placement Note and the Surecredit Bilateral Asset Co-Ownership Scheme.
- Track, model, and project future maturities, interest payments, and rollover volumes to eliminate maturity mismatch risks against the loan book.
- Administer timely, accurate payouts of monthly, quarterly, or terminal yields to retail and institutional high-net-worth investors.
- Partner with the Head of Marketing to provide treasury data, yields positioning, and liquidity proof metrics to backstop external fundraising pitches.
Asset-Liability Matching (ALM) & Risk Mitigation:
- Chair the internal Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO), preparing data-driven weekly and monthly maturity gap profiles and sensitivity analyses.
- Implement hedging strategies and liquidity stress testing to protect the firm from sudden macroeconomic shocks or sharp asset-side default spikes.
- Track the exact Weighted Average Cost of Funds (WACF) against the internal loan yield margins to guarantee the company maintains healthy Net Interest Margins (NIM).
Regulatory Compliance & Financial Reporting:
- Enforce compliance with all Lagos State lending regulations, state tax mandates, and relevant central banking or shadow banking cash reserve guidelines.
- Design, refine, and continuously update internal treasury manuals, corporate governance policy controls, and fund allocation policies.
- Produce precise daily liquidity reports and weekly macro-treasury dashboards for presentation directly to the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education & Professional Certifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or an analytical business field.
- Certifications: Professional certification such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, ACTA (Association of Corporate Treasurers of Nigeria), or a relevant professional treasury diploma is highly mandatory.
Experience & Track Record:
- Industry Tenure: Minimum of 8–12 years of core treasury or cash management experience within an Investment House, Finance Company, Tier-1 Microfinance Bank, Fintech Lender, or Tier-2 Commercial Bank in Nigeria.
- Leadership Focus: At least 3–5 years in a distinct treasury leadership, managerial, or ALCO-facing capacity.
- Domain Mastery: Practical history managing complex asset-backed investments, structured private debt instruments, or bilateral co-ownership programs.
Technical & Soft Skills:
- ALM Software Mastery: Advanced financial modeling skills in Microsoft Excel, along with experience using core banking applications or modern treasury management systems (TMS).
- Macroeconomic Literacy: Deep analytical understanding of the local fixed-income market, treasury bills yields, and alternative lending structures.
- Negotiation & Precision: High-level mathematical ability, extreme attention to operational details, and sharp negotiating skills with commercial banks and primary dealers.
Remuneration
N1,500,000 monthly net pay – above based on value offering.
