- A candidate needs a PhD in a relevant field from a recognised school with at least 12 years of cognate experience.
- A candidate with a Master’s degree in a relevant field needs at least 15 years of cognate experience.
The candidate must also meet these conditions:
- Must have served as Senior Lecturer for the last three years
- Must have four extra papers or articles in reputable journals
- Must have book chapters contributed to standard textbooks since last promotion
- Must show ability to start and supervise research work
- Must show academic and administrative leadership
- Must show evidence of community service
- Must belong to relevant professional bodies, where needed
