Nurse / Midwife (RN & RM)

Job Summary

• We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and professionally qualified Nurse/Midwife to join our clinical team.
• The successful candidate must be double-qualified as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) and will be responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing and midwifery care.
• The ideal candidate should be clinically competent, emotionally intelligent, attentive to detail, and able to work effectively with doctors, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing and midwifery care to patients in line with professional and hospital standards.
• Assess patients' health conditions, monitor vital signs, and promptly report any changes or concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners.
• Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, emergencies, and other clinical interventions.
• Provide antenatal, postnatal, and maternity care to pregnant women and new mothers.
• Monitor mothers and babies before, during, and after delivery.
• Assist with normal deliveries and provide appropriate care during the different stages of labour.
• Recognise and promptly escalate signs of maternal or neonatal complications.
• Provide newborn care, including monitoring, feeding support, and basic newborn assessment.
• Educate patients and families on medications, treatment plans, hygiene, nutrition, breastfeeding, and general health practices.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, nursing notes, and clinical documentation.
• Observe infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
• Support emergency response and participate in resuscitation and other critical care procedures within the scope of practice.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional ethics.
• Participate in ward rounds, handovers, team meetings, and other clinical activities.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
• Ensure proper communication and continuity of care during shift handovers.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment.
• Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other clinical duties as assigned by the Nursing Manager or Medical Director.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree/HND in Nursing or equivalent recognised nursing qualification.
• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Must be a Registered Midwife (RM).
• Valid and current registration/licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
• Valid practising licence.
• 2–3 years relevant clinical experience, preferably in a hospital, maternity, or healthcare setting.
• Experience in maternity, labour and delivery, antenatal and postnatal care will be an advantage.
• Current knowledge of nursing and midwifery practices, patient safety, and infection prevention and control.
