Optometrist

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
• Diagnose refractive errors and common eye conditions.
• Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and other optical aids as appropriate.
• Provide patient counselling on eye health, vision care, and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate patient records and examination documentation.
• Operate and maintain optometric equipment according to standard procedures.
• Collaborate with other clinical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Adhere strictly to professional ethics, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement and smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Valid practicing license/registration with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN).
• Previous clinical experience in an optometry or eye care setting is preferred.
• NYSC certificate (completed) is an added advantage.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
