HSE Assistant

Job Summary
- Our client, is seeking a responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious HSE Assistant to support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental practices across its operations in Mowe-Ibafo, Ogun State.
- The successful candidate will assist in maintaining a safe working environment, monitoring compliance with HSE policies, identifying workplace hazards, and supporting safety training and inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Assist with risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Monitor the proper use of PPE by employees and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation.
- Monitor workplace housekeeping and general safety conditions.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards to the HSE Supervisor/Manager.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Promote safety awareness and a positive safety culture among employees.
Requirements
- Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in an HSE role, preferably within a manufacturing, agricultural, food processing, or production environment.
- Good knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
- Relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or other recognized certifications will be an added advantage.
- Good observation, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a production environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an added advantage.
- Must be safety-conscious, proactive, disciplined, and willing to learn.
Salary & Overtime
- N90,000 monthly + separate overtime payment.
- Overtime work will attract additional payment separate from the N90,000 monthly salary, in accordance with the company's overtime policy.
