Accountant

Job Description

• The Accountant is responsible for managing the organization's financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support business decisions.
• The Accountant also oversees cash management, payroll processing, financial analysis, and internal controls to promote financial integrity and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Reconcile bank statements, cash accounts, and general ledger accounts.
• Monitor cash flow and advise management on financial performance.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Maintain accurate records of creditors and debtors.

Payroll Administration:

• Prepare and process employee salaries, wages, allowances, and statutory deductions.
• Ensure timely remittance of taxes
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.

Internal Control & Audit:

• Implement and maintain effective internal control procedures.
• Monitor financial transactions to prevent fraud, errors, and financial losses.
• Conduct periodic reviews of financial processes and recommend improvements.
• Support internal and external audit activities.

Inventory & Asset Management:

• Maintain records of company assets and depreciation schedules.
• Reconcile inventory records with physical stock counts where applicable.
• Monitor inventory valuation and cost control.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial reports for management meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
• Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications:

• Membership of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN) is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, Tally, or similar) is desirable.

Experience:

• 2–3 years' relevant accounting experience.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Good understanding of tax regulations and statutory compliance.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Salary
N80,000 – N150,000 / month.
