General Manager / COO

Job Purpose

• The General Manager / Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the principal executive responsible for the overall management and operational performance of the Group.
• The role provides strategic leadership across all business units and corporate functions, ensuring operational excellence, sustainable growth, profitability, service quality and effective execution of the Group's strategic objectives.

Authority

• The General Manager / Chief Operating Officer is authorized to direct the day-to-day operations of the Group, supervise Business Heads and Heads of Corporate Functions, implement approved business strategies, allocate operational resources, approve operational expenditure within delegated authority, and make management decisions necessary to achieve the Group's strategic and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

• Lead the execution of the Group's Strategic Growth and Investment Plan.
• Translate corporate strategy into measurable operational and commercial outcomes.
• Identify growth opportunities, strategic partnerships and new business initiatives.

Business & Operational Management:

• Provide leadership and oversight to all business units and corporate functions.
• Ensure efficient coordination between operations, logistics and support services.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity and service excellence.
• Monitor business performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Financial & Commercial Management:

• Develop and implement annual operating plans and budgets.
• Drive revenue growth, profitability and cost optimization.
• Monitor financial performance and ensure prudent utilization of resources.
• Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies and major commercial decisions.

People Leadership:

• Lead, coach and develop Business Heads and Heads of Corporate Functions.
• Build a high-performance culture based on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Oversee workforce planning, succession and organisational development.

Governance & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, statutory requirements and operational standards.
• Strengthen internal controls, enterprise risk management and business continuity.
• Submit periodic operational and performance reports to the Managing Director and Board.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.
• Relevant professional certification is desirable.
• 8 – 12 years' progressive management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.

Salary
N550,000 - N650,000 / month.
